Jean Vigodsky first became attracted to folk art after receiving a Howard Finster angel as a gift in the late 1980s. Howard Finster was a folk artist who used his creations as a vehicle for high truth and his personal spiritual convictions. Having always been interested in the creative process, she began to experiment with applying her version of the Finster style to her own subject matter which originally included angels, Elvis, animals, bird houses, and Meher Baba.
“I am basically a self-taught artist, but I am always open to advice, ideas, and constructive critiques from friends. Over the years my pieces have evolved from relatively simple two-dimensional paint and wood creations to three-dimensional, mixed-media, mosaic, and sometimes animated pieces.”
“My creative process is a form of meditation, and I enjoy bringing as much humor as possible to light.”
